🔴 DEFINITION: The Client Interview & Attendance Note is one SQE2 assessment split into 2 parts:
- an oral interview – marked by a lay interviewer (actor or non-law academic) who scores the oral skills only, and
- a written attendance note drafted immediately afterwards – marked by a solicitor assessor, who marks the written note, including skills and legal analysis.
The written part is where most candidates struggle, because it requires accurate law, structure, and clear professional advice. This assessment is examined in Wills & Probate and Property Practice. While both parts have different marking criteria, only the written attendance note is assessed on law.
