The LPC SQE2 Package
🔴 DEFINITION: The LPC SQE2 Package is a specialised preparation programme designed exclusively for candidates who have completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and are transitioning to the Solicitors Qualifying Examination route.
It recognises that LPC graduates already possess substantial legal knowledge and practical training, but require targeted preparation to adapt to the SQE2 exam format, which assesses candidates at the level of a day-one solicitor rather than a trainee.
At the Academy of Smart Lawyers, this package was developed by founders who are themselves LPC graduates, based on their own experience transitioning to the SQE and supporting their friends and colleagues through the same process.
The programme is not theoretical – it is a practical, experience-driven pathway designed to address the challenges LPC graduates face in SQE2. The LPC SQE2 Package builds on either: the Basic SQE2 Package or SQE2 Resit Course, with additional benefits:
✔ Includes 1-to-1 mock sessions with solicitor-level feedback (at a higher discounted rate)
✔ Full law revision included at no additional cost
The LPC SQE2 Package is designed to:
- Transition from LPC-style learning → SQE2 performance
- Avoid common pitfalls (strong knowledge but weaker exam execution)
- Train specifically for how the SQE2 is assessed, not just what is tested

𐦂𖨆𐀪𖠋 What LPC Graduates Say About SQE2 Compared to LPC Exams
Forget LPC. SQE is a different exam.
“The areas of law are pretty much the same… but how the questions are assessed is totally different… My mistake was applying my LPC skills and knowledge to the SQE. That was totally wrong… The structure should be different. How you apply the law is different… Comprehension is different… Be sure you understand the SQE structure… and not basically mix both.”
SQE2 doesn’t test whether you know the law – it tests whether you can use it
“LPC still relied a lot more on legal knowledge, but SQE2 really felt like a skills assessment… SQE is very practical-orientated… it prepares you for real-life scenarios.”
“The mock questions were really reflective and prepared me for what I needed to do… There were a lot of varying ways of participating… one-to-one, lectures, advocacy, interviewing – it really helped prepare for the real-life scenario… It really helped prepare me for the real-life scenario.”
