I have been a fully qualified solicitor now for the better part of a decade. I took a traditional route into the profession, completing the LLB law degree and the Legal Practice Course, before also completing a master’s degree in advanced legal practice, but my love of law began far before this. As a teenager, I studied A-level Law in sixth form and found it fascinating.
My Early Experience with Law
This experience was a significant driving force behind my decision to study law and to pursue a legal education. The A-level law qualification itself is not one of the entry requirements for further legal study or entry into practice. However, the knowledge I developed while studying for my A-level law qualification provided me with a solid foundational understanding of key areas, such as:
- The English Legal System
- Criminal Law
Introducing the Academy of Smart Lawyers’ A-Level Law Course
I am proud to be part of the Academy of Smart Lawyers’ launch of an affordable A-Level Law course. I want to share the fantastic experiences that I had during my own introduction to law with students who are, themselves, beginning what may be the start of their journey into the legal profession, or even just the formation of foundational knowledge that assists them in other subjects (e.g., business and government and politics).
Course Highlights
Academy of Smart Lawyers have worked exceptionally hard to produce an A-Level Law syllabus and study materials that are both comprehensive and concise, driven by personal experience and the knowledge of legal professionals.
- Comprehensive and Concise Materials
Our syllabus and A-Level law study materials are meticulously designed to cover key areas thoroughly while remaining accessible and focused.
- Qualified Tutors
Our A-Level Law tutors, including myself, are all qualified solicitors with substantial experience and expertise in passing the A-Level Law course. We bring a depth of knowledge and practical insight to our teaching.
- Systematic Review
We have conducted a systematic review of A-Level law past papers published by examining bodies such as AQA and OCR to ensure our materials align with current exam standards and expectations.
Flexible Learning Options
Our A-Level Law course is designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate diverse learning needs and preferences.
- Online Classes and Tutor Support: Our course adopts a flexible structure, offering both A-level law online classes and tutor support, for a guided experience.
- Individual Lectures and Materials: For those who prefer a different approach, individual lectures and materials grouped by subject (e.g., criminal law, tort law, contract law) are available for purchase. Law students may find this to be particularly valuable for revision in the run-up to the A-level law exams.
- Distance Learning: The flexibility of our approach also makes this course suitable for those looking for a distance learning option who are not otherwise studying at any particular institution, and later plan to sit the A-level law exams as a private candidate.
A Personal Recommendation
Lastly, again from my personal experiences in both the practice and study of law, I would appeal to those people who are still considering which subjects to pursue for their A-levels, to suggest that you pursue A-level law. I would suggest this to you even if you choose not to do this with the Academy of Smart Lawyers. Wherever you go and whatever you do in your life, you will be impacted by the law, and everyone should have a basic understanding of it.
